Our Deacons are instrumental in helping us reach out in many ways, offering support and encouragement to those around us.
Here are some ways we do that. Your participation is always welcome. Use the contact form to contact a deacon to learn more.
Care Cards – sends cards to members experiencing bereavement, sickness, surgery, need for encouragement, pregnancy, new baby, etc.
Courtesy - Organize volunteer helpers from the congregation to provide a reception after a funeral/memorial service
Communion
•Church – Deacons prepare and (with elders) serve Sunday Communion, and clean up afterwards
•Homebound – Serve Communion to the homebound
•Nursing Homes – Serve Communion to nursing home residents
Friendly Visitors – Organize deacons to visit members who are homebound or have special needs
Helping Hands – Gives emergency financial aid, e.g. for utilities, rent, car repair, or a medical bill, paid to the provider. Funds come from individual deacons and from the Birdhouse.
Hospital Visitation – Organizes visits to members who are in the hospital. Visitors may be deacons or may be other church members.
New Members – Sends welcome cards to new members. Photographs new members for Fellowship Hall bulletin board.
New Moms – Provides new moms and their families with three evening meals, by organizing volunteer cooks from the congregation.
Prayer Chain – Informs other deacons about prayer requests. If you would like to be prayed for, visit our Prayer Request page.
Prayer Shawls – Provides prayer shawls to members needing support and comfort, solicits knitting by volunteers in the congregation.
Rides - Arranges rides to Sunday services and other functions by organizing volunteer drivers from the congregation
Toppers Party – Plan annual party honoring church members age 65 and older. Organize and supervise subcommittees, all work is done by deacons.
